Ok, this is perhaps one of the best ever chilli pan mee and perhaps the original dried chilli pan mee in Malaysia. Many people who probably know this restaurant but a bit of intro for those who haven’t. This restaurant is actually located at part of Chow kit where things are a little ghetto-ish. Most would just head to this restaurant and pretend they don’t see people scavenging rubbish at every dump in front of of shop rows and get off quickly after they have finished. The good news is free parking are quite available considering this is the center of KL (except if you go on lunch hour). It would be wiser to opt for paid per entry Indian style parking.
Now the food,
The slim noodle pam mee is served dried with combination of minced pork , friend onions, lard , half cooked poach like eggs, deep fried anchovies and some other recipes. The noodle comes in only one size and one standard size. You can’t order large ,It may be a little small for most but 2 bowls may be over killing. The special dried chili is available on a plastic bottle in every table inside the restaurant. This is good as you can adjust the chili servings according to your hotness level that you prefer.
Most would probably prefer to mix everything evenly when eating chilli pan mee. The melted yolk blends perfectly with the minced pork and anchovies. I like how the taste of the slight salty yolk mixes with the minced meat and blends nicely with the noddle. I would prefer not to put too much chilies as to someone retain and not to overkill the combined taste of the blends. Adding a little more chilies bit by bit as needed.
The noodle comes with a standard “Pan Mee” soup. Dried Pan mee will is not perfect with a bowl of soup especially with “sweet leaves” or “Mani Chai” as they call it in Mandarin. No Pan Mee will go wrong with Mani Chai ! The clear mildly soup fits nicely when combined wit the dried spicy noodle. Chilli pan mee by Kin Kin is heavenly. Serving many chilli pan mee addicts/junkie for a long period of history and probably will attracts more in the future.
Good news, as of 2016 . Kin Kin has officially installed air conditioning on their premises. Something that they should have done considering the millions that they made
